The Lord reminded me of this scripture and that this was about relationship with Him. He said it wasn’t so much about a change of behaviors where our actions and attitudes change for the better. It wasn’t about performing. It was about the depth of intimacy and quality of relationship with Him becoming more and more profound. It was about discovering a mutual bond of friendship and love where we are each other’s BFF – Best Friends Forever. It was about us developing greater trust and a sense of security before Him no matter what state we’re in. It’s a sanctuary of bold honesty. It’s a place of discovering His glory of all encompassing love. He reminds us of the First Commandment – “You shall have no other gods before me.” This is about us establishing Him as the love of our lives and mutually enjoying each other. Here is happiness forever and a return to the garden. The rest of the commandments are a natural progression from that initial established bond of love. It harkens to John 14:15 – “If you love Me, keep My commands.” Since we are in love with Him and Him with us, we will express love and honor to the world around us. We can’t help it. He showed me the scripture in John 15 that says that we are pruned and then bear more fruit than before because of it. We have been in a season of pruning. As we get closer to Him, things are falling away such as fear, shame, religiosity, performance, idolatry, immorality and all sorts of negative things that aren’t a part of a mutual love relationship with Him. The path to the full light of day, which we are on, is one where all those things are falling away as we encounter Him more deeply. What does bear fruit is connection with Him that involves intimacy, friendship, relational confidence, trust and safety. The fruit that is born from that touches the world with healing, restoration and redemption. We are headed into true, never fading, ever growing love with Him and changing. He’s bringing us into a honey moon that lasts forever. |
