This week’s verses (2 Cor 3:12-18) give us some great news. We “are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord”. (v 18 AMP) It’s not “if” (like if I try harder or better) but “are” (yes, even today) because God is the one already doing that work in each one of us! It’s our part to stop focusing on myself, like despairing “I’m not good enough” (that’s often shame holding me back) or working harder (that often turns into striving). Instead, this chapter encourages us to “turn” to God (v 17) and rely upon Him (v 5). “Turn” is same original word as “repentence”, but rather than thinking of that just as confessing sins and stopping negative behaviors, think of it as turning our focus more upon God. He wants to transform us through RELATIONSHIP with Him, and that can sometimes start with “surrendering” or “depending” more upon Him. Also, instead of me working on changing things in my life I think displease God, we can let Him encourage us and lovingly guide us to not only change but also thrive! I love how some lyrics from the song “Made for More” speak about this: “So why would I make a bed in my shame When a fountain of grace is running my way I know I am Yours and I was made for more” Here are some points I hope will help you along the way: - Seeing my life better: Remembering God’s grace and faithfulness in our lives helps develop “memorials” of thankfulness we can cling to. - Remember: Think of a time God worked powerfully in your situation.
- Seeing myself better: Taking a step at a time, what is one area of your life you can “turn” over to God more. - Reflect: What's 1 area of your life God may be encouraging you to surrender or cooperate more with Him?
- Seeing God better: We often need a fresh revelation about God that will lead us to change “from 1 degree of glory to even more”. - Ask God: for 1 thing you can know & love Him better.
God bless you as you feel Him growing you to another degree of glory in Him! With God’s huge love, Clayton |
