KINGDOM TREASURE - by Bill Hernandez


The Lord occasionally reminds me not to worry about finances and everything pertaining to financial security. I have not been too concerned about these things, but He has been reminding me of this lately which I found curious. Into this atmosphere of assurance He pointed what it says in Mat 6:19-21 -- “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

I then told Him that Him speaking to me so very clearly every day about anything was a treasure to me beyond measure. I then had a vision of Him being this huge golden jewel. Jewels on Earth are amazing that people like to possess, but He showed me that figuratively He was more of a treasure that lasts forever unlike the things of this material realm. I then began to see all the virtues of heaven as if they were jewels like diamonds that stood for purity, rubies that stood for grace and sapphires that stood for revelation and emeralds that stood for insight and understanding. I understood that these virtues, like shining jewels, are the treasures stored up for me in heaven.

He then showed me that all of who I am, the various aspects of what I’m becoming in Him is a treasure. We are a treasure of heavenly virtues that He sees when He sees us. We are a pearl of great price to Him and He is a pearl of great price to us.

He showed me that the treasure of who I am is for me the treasure stored in heaven. I get to take who I am with me into glory. Most importantly He showed me that the treasure of intimacy and deep relationship we have with Him we keep forever. That treasure is where our heart is.

Rom 14:17 -- “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit...”

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfect; but I  press on that I may lay hold of that for whichChrist Jesus has also laid hold of me.” Philippians 3:12 So much about walking with God is about receiving. I think of life kind of like a big ship on the ocean. In order for the ship to move forward, the sails need to be open. Even if everything else on the boat looks perfect, clean, tidy, put together, prepared, if the sails aren’t open the ship won’t make it far. God has encouraged me not to put so much effort in making my life look put together, but instead to open my heart to Him. To come back to receiving His love, allowing Him to be the wind that carries me forward.  I can get sidetracked by my insufficient efforts, or I can open my heart to what He says and where He leads.  I challenge you to press on.
