GOD'S FIERY, FAITHFUL, TRANSFORMING LOVE FOR US - by Russ Fochler

Jesus’ eyes of blazing fire in the book of Revelation reveal His passion for our healing, freedom, and transformation.

The writer of Hebrews calls us to respond well to what God is doing for us: Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God himself is Fire!”  Hebrew 12:28-29 in The Message God’s fiery love for us His beloved ones won’t leave us wounded or stuck in sin and lies.

George MacDonald wrote this: “For love loves unto purity. Love has ever in view the absolute loveliness of that which it beholds.”

“Therefore all that is not beautiful in the beloved, all that comes between and is not of love's kind, must be destroyed.  And our God is a consuming fire.”

All that “needs to burn” is all that is attached to us which is not of love’s kind.

George MacDonald was a Scotsman who lived from 1824 to 1905.   While his language is a bit challenging for us in 2026, there are many remarkable pearls of understanding in his books.  Here is a paragraph worth reading carefully:

“The wrath will consume what they call themselves; so that the selves God made shall appear, coming out with tenfold consciousness of being, and bringing with them all that made the blessedness of the life the men tried to lead without God. They will know that now first are they fully themselves. The avaricious, weary, selfish, suspicious old man shall have passed away. The young, ever young self, will remain. That which they thought themselves shall have vanished: that which they felt themselves, though they misjudged their own feelings, shall remain— remain glorified in repentant hope. For that which cannot be shaken shall remain. That which is immortal in God shall remain in man. The death that is in them shall be consumed.“

God’s fiery, faithful, transforming love is for each one of us.  This is why Jesus suffered and died on the cross - and is now alive in us.  What great hope we have!

Love, Russ
