Paul encourages us in 1 Corinthians 14:26 that each one of us carries something vital and unique that helps “build up the church family”. We saw this in action last Saturday night as the Holy Spirit moved in our midst through worship, testimony, teachings and prophetic revelations. One of the resonating themes was that of our union in Christ as several people shared inspiring revelations of what Jesus had been showing them.
To be one with the God of all creation is a concept beyond what our minds can comprehend, but which our spirits welcome with open arms. Our God, the source of all that is good, loving, and life-giving wants to be intimately in union with you in every moment of your life. We are reassured in John 14:18 that “At no time will you be orphaned or abandoned by me; I come to abide face to face with you.” (The Mirror). And that “face to face” promise is for always in every circumstance.
If we really believe we are as one with Christ, then the pressure to prove our worth or meet any imagined expectation just sort of fades away. He promises that just as He is in His Father, so we are in Him, and He is in us. As one person expressed it, it is as if we have melted into each other; how can we ever become separate again? Once we have so merged, there is no going back, it is forever! It is as if two separate entities have become a new, original, never seen before creation; and indeed we have according to 2 Cor 5:17: since we are now united with the Anointed One, we are a new creation. The old life is gone - and see - a new life has begun! (The Voice).
Jesus’s great joy is to help us grow in believing, and receiving, just how much our “new life is hidden, enmeshed with the Anointed.” He has done all the work, all the reconciliation, all the sanctification; our role, is to simply receive our Lord and our Friend, in the fullness of His glory, and believe that all that He has is ours. (from Col 3:3-4). And the way to receive this gift is as a child, with awe and gratitude, trusting His goodness is better than anything we can imagine.
My prayer for all of us is that we would have the grace to continue to keep our hearts open and receptive, trusting beyond what our minds can comprehend. He is good and completely trustworthy with our lives.
Love,
Pastor Susan
